These are some excerpts from a blog I managed for a class at University of Maryland, ENGL488B: Writing for the Blogosphere. The blog was entitled "Rambling Bastard", and was a collection of discussions and anecdotes that were interlaced with personally-drawn (and purposefully rudimentary) MS Paint images.
Rambling Bastard was arguably the most successful blog in the class, collecting as many as 4,500 views a day at points, after only being managed for 2-3 months' time. I managed the blog for about 6 months, in total; it was a good experiment in both how to write in a style that would appeal to a mass audience, and how to best market myself to promote the virality of my work.
Several of my favorite posts are below. They are very dark in humor, but try to tackle some pretty touchy subjects. Enjoy.
(You're also welcome to view the original -- and admittedly less-than-professional -- blog here.)
