Snap Kit

In 2018, Snap released Snap Kit: its first open API developer tool kit. I was brought on early with the product designers to develop its brand, aesthetic, and how we plan to talk about it to the world.

It was a very sensitive project — this was months after Facebook’s user privacy scandal, which made it a very trepidatious time to unveil the same kind of toolkit that was central to that entire affair.

Initially, it was suggested focus on how powerful the API was — but I instead counseled us to double down on how secure and safe this was for our community’s privacy! We pivoted the campaign accordingly — which resulted in hundreds of organically-earned articles around the world praising our priority for privacy.

During this campaign, I scripted and storyboarded the Snap Kit teaser video, served as creative director for the the launch of the Snap Kit website and sub-brand as a whole, and helped shape the UI / UX experience of the API tool itself.
